Affiliate Marketing is a simple yet extremely effective way of promoting and marketing your product of service. Affiliate marketing is made of a four player structure. The main player in this case is the merchant, or the business that manufactures the product or offers the service. The other players are the network, on which the promotion is done, the publisher or ‘affiliate’ who does the bulk of the work, and the customer. Affiliate marketing is highly lucrative and can be done with ease, if you know what you are doing and have a good affiliate marketing strategy. To come up with a good affiliate marketing strategy, you must first understand the players and the dynamics involved in effective affiliate marketing.

Knowing the publisher is important. This determines what networks you use for promotion and what methods you will implement to gauge the customers. Selecting the network is important as it determines what type of customers will be audience to the promotion. These are some of the core parts of a good affiliate marketing strategy because they determine how the rest of your plan comes into place. You must also decide how you are going to make the money. The best way to do this is ‘pay per click’. Pay per click is a system where the affiliate or ‘publisher’ promotes the merchant’s links on different networks for customers to view.

Every time the customer clicks on one of the links, the merchant pays the affiliate who placed the link. So the equation there is simple, more clicks equals more money made. But getting the clicks can be hard sometimes and it also depends on the product or service you are promoting. Keep all that in mind when formulating an affiliate marketing strategy. This makes it important to study the product, find the networks and study the audience. But a word of advice, do not limit to just one merchant. Affiliate marketing can be unpredictable, especially par-per-click, so remember to affiliate with more than one merchant, so that if one isn’t working out, the other ones will. This is a safe way keep up profits and minimizes any negative effects on your company.

A good affiliate marketing strategy should also be efficient. You must get maximum returns with minimum work, but of course something like that is too good to be true. Always know how much you can manage. The key to good affiliate marketing is active engagement and continuously being part of the management process. Take on, only as much as you can effectively manage. The internet is an ever-changing landscape, adaptation and flexibility is important. So taking on more than you can handle will just weigh you down and hinder your flexibility, hence, resulting in profit loses. So remember, an affiliate marketing strategy will work as long as you have understood the principles of its workings and the current trends in the market. In all, affiliate marketing is highly profitable, as long as you know what you are doing.
